Notice of Application for a Water Services Licence and a Sewerage Services Licence

On Wednesday the 8th May 2013, The Queen delivered her speech to the House of Lords setting out the Government’s Legislative Programme for the next 12 months. In her speech, the Queen announced that the Government would bring forward legislation to improve the water industry.

The planned changes to The Water Bill aim amongst other things to improve competition and customer choice in the water sector and would allow by 2017 all businesses, charities and public sector organisations to switch their water and sewerage retail supplier.

As part of the Kelda Group’s preparation for these changes, the Kelda Group subsidiary YorWater Limited has made an application to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland for a Water and Sewerage Services Licence. Combined with the existing Water Supply Licence for England and Wales held by YorWater since 2006, a Scottish licence will enable the Kelda Group through YorWater to offer an enhanced range of services to Yorkshire Water’s nationwide multi-site customers.

As part of the application process, YorWater is required by the Water Industry Commission to place a prescribed notice in a National Newspaper and on our website.

The Notice reads as follows:

YorWater Limited of Western House, Halifax Road Bradford West Yorkshire BD6 2SZ  hereby gives notice that on 12 April 2013 they made an application to the Water Industry Commission for Scotland ("the Commission") for a water services licence and sewerage services licence in terms of section 6 of the Water Services etc. (Scotland) Act 2005.

Any person who wishes to make representations on the application should send them, in writing (including by e-mail) to the Director of Corporate Affairs, the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, First Floor, Moray House, Forthside Way, Stirling FK8 1QZ or no later than 5pm on the 28th May 2013.

Further information on how to make representations, including information on the treatment of confidential information, can be obtained from the Commission at the above address or at or by telephoning 01786 430200.
