Yorkshire Water unveils draft investment proposals for 2010 - 2015
11/08/2008
Kelda Group Ltd’s principal subsidiaryYorkshire Water has
today submitted its draft business plan to Ofwat, which outlines
the company's priorities for the period 2010-2015 and a planned
investment of £1.9bn in the Yorkshire region.
Despite facing huge increases in power prices and the need to
meet higher environmental standards, Yorkshire Water will deliver
all of this investment for less than £2 per year extra on
customers' bills over the next five years.
In doing this, Yorkshire Water is striking the right balance for
Yorkshire and taking into account the needs of its customers and
stakeholders who have been consulted throughout the draft business
planning process.
Jonathan Hodgkin, director of regulation for Yorkshire Water
says:"Our draft business plan outlines how we will achieve our key
objectives of delivering a customer experience second to none,
maintaining a strong environmental focus and achieving the lowest
possible prices for customers."
"It will also enable us to achieve our 25 year strategy and
continue to work towards our vision to be clearly the best water
company in the UK."
During 2010-2015 Yorkshire Water plans to invest £1.9bn in
line with customers' highest priorities. This will
include:
Maintaining high standards of service and water quality
Reducing the number of properties that experience internal sewer
flooding
Continuing to ensure that people in Yorkshire have a secure supply
of drinking water
Minimising pollution incidents and delivering improvements to
rivers and beaches
The submission of Yorkshire Water's draft business plan is the
start of a two-year process which involves working closely with
Ofwat before the final plans are determined.
Over the period 2005-2010, Yorkshire Water will have invested
£1.5bn in the region's infrastructure, which has helped to
ensure that Yorkshire has had no hosepipe bans, that the rivers are
cleaner than they have ever been and customers' are receiving some
of the best quality water in the country.
