Kelda Group Board changes

16/08/2000

Kelda Group plc today announced a number of changes to its Board.

James Newman, currently group finance director, has been appointed deputy chief executive with the prime responsibility of implementing the planned strategic changes and increasing focus on the water and waste interests of the group.

As previously announced in June, John O'Kane will become group finance director and join the Board with effect from 1 September 2000. John has extensive experience in senior finance roles in industry, both in the UK and overseas and for the last two years has been finance director of Yorkshire Water Services Limited.

Also with effect from 1 September 2000, Kevin Whiteman will join the Board as an executive director. Kevin is the managing director of Yorkshire Water Services and joined the group in 1997. He has considerable experience of the water industry, having previously held senior positions with the National Rivers Authority and the Environment Agency.

John Napier, executive chairman, said: "James has played an important role in the company and has a major part to play in taking forward the future strategy of the group. Kevin and John are welcome additions to the Board and will further strengthen the management team."

I am very sad to announce that, due to a sudden illness in his family, Phil Cox has decided to retire as a non-executive director of the company with immediate effect. We would like to thank Phil for his considerable contribution to the business."
