Biodiversity
Yorkshire Water interacts with the natural world in all
aspects of our business and we work hard to manage these
impacts to benefit the diversity of species and
habitats within our region.
Land Access
We are committed to opening our land and waters to appropriate
recreation and have recently declared a number of sites open access
for your enjoyment.
Pollution
Over the past five years, we have significantly reduced the number
of pollution incidents attributable to Yorkshire Water.
Energy and Carbon Management
We have a strong focus on driving energy efficiency within the
company and are adopting energy efficient practices throughout our
operations. Work is currently being undertaken to assess our carbon
footprint.
Climate change
At Yorkshire Water, we have been proactively looking at
the issue of Climate Change and its potential impact on the
environment, our region and our business.
Improving the Aquatic Environment
Yorkshire Water is serious about protecting the environment, and
our multi-million pound investment programme is helping us to make
Yorkshire a cleaner, healthier and more enjoyable place to live.
Leakage
Yorkshire Water’s leakage reduction programme is helping to
tackle the problems caused by the vast and ageing system of water
mains we inherited.
The Water Framework Directive will provide the major driver
for achieving sustainable management of water in the UK and other
EU Member States for many years to come.
